Smart devices guard doors, watch rooms and hold family routines. Buying one should not depend on a stranger’s verbal promise. Here is who we are, how we choose what we sell and what standing behind it means — in plain words. If anything is unclear, call us and ask.
The company, on paper
Everything below can be verified before you spend a taka.
Why what you cannot see matters to us
Many smart devices are available in multiple versions that look nearly identical but differ significantly in their internal components, materials and quality standards. These differences are often impossible to identify from the product, packaging or model number alone.
We could source lower-specification versions at a lower cost, allowing us to offer more price-competitive products or earn a wider margin. We choose not to compromise on the components that affect reliability, sensor accuracy, battery safety and security.
Instead, we select the versions that meet our standards, even when they cost more to source. Because when a device protects your home, family or business, what you cannot see may matter most.
What we do about it:
- Our security engineers vet every model before it earns a place in our catalog. If a version does not meet the bar, we do not sell it — at any price.
- Global brands such as Philips and Google reach us only through authorized distributors, so the unit you receive is the authentic one.
- SmartLife-branded devices go further: we work directly with the manufacturer at the component level and specify what goes inside.
- Every unit is tested by our own team in Bangladesh before delivery, so faulty pieces are caught on our bench — not on your door.
- Serial numbers go into our records, so the service history follows your device for years.
What our price includes
You may find the same model number listed elsewhere for less. We would rather acknowledge that openly than suggest otherwise.
Our price reflects more than the device. It includes the version verified by our engineers, installation by trained technicians we employ, a written warranty with at-home service, long-term access to spare parts and support that remains available after the sale.
When a device protects your front door, these are not optional extras. They are part of the product you are buying.
If another provider offers the same verified version, installation, warranty and long-term service at a lower price — and confirms it all in writing — that may genuinely be the better deal.
Security, in plain words
Smart-home products do more than perform ordinary household tasks. A lock controls access to your home. A camera may capture private spaces. Switches, curtain controllers, cleaning robots and other connected devices may communicate through your home network or a manufacturer’s cloud service. We believe selling these products carries responsibilities beyond selling an ordinary appliance and we run our company accordingly.
- We do not sell products that fail our technical and security review. Every device must meet our standards for reliability, access control, connectivity and data handling before it earns a place in our range.
- Where an account is required, it is set up on your phone using your own credentials. We do not retain access to your locks, cameras or personal accounts after handover.
- Before you buy, we explain which features require an internet connection, which continue to work offline and what information the manufacturer’s app may collect or process.
- If we become aware of a security issue affecting a product we sold, we contact the affected customers directly and explain the appropriate next steps. We do not wait to be asked.
Safety is part of the product
Smart-home devices interact with electricity, batteries, moving parts and the physical spaces around your family. A switch controls electrical loads. A curtain motor moves heavy fittings. A cleaning robot operates unattended. A smart lock must remain dependable during everyday use and emergencies.
That is why we evaluate more than features and appearance. We review component quality, electrical compatibility, battery condition, heat management, mechanical reliability and installation requirements before adding a product to our range.
We also install products according to their intended use and explain any important operating, charging or maintenance requirements during handover.
No device is completely free from risk. Our responsibility is to reduce avoidable risks through careful product selection, proper installation and support when something goes wrong.
The warranty, in plain words
Warranty periods and after-sales coverage vary by product. The exact terms are shown on each product page before purchase, so you can review them without surprises later. The way we handle a claim remains consistent:
- Covered — manufacturing defects and hardware faults arising during normal use, within the stated warranty period.
- Not covered — accidental or physical damage, exposure to water beyond the product’s stated rating, misuse, or repair and modification by an unauthorized party.
- How claims work — contact our hotline. For smart locks, switches, curtain controllers, PDLC films and other products that require specialist handling, our own service team visits your home to inspect and service the product where coverage and location permit.
- Response and turnaround — we aim to respond quickly and resolve most service issues within one business day. When an immediate repair is not possible, we explain the reason, the next step and the expected timeline clearly.
Warranty periods end. Our support does not. We continue to take calls and provide service assistance for products we sold years ago.
The people who show up
Every installation is handled by SmartLife’s own salaried technicians — people we recruit, train and employ directly. We do not rely on commission-based installers or outsource the work. The same teams also handle service visits, so the technician working on your device has practical experience installing and servicing many products like it.
You do not have to take our word for it. Years of completed installations and customer experiences are publicly available on our Facebook and YouTube channels. Review our past work, read the comments and customer reviews and judge the quality of our team for yourself before you buy.
Come see for yourself
The fastest way to evaluate us is in person. Every flagship lock is mounted and working at our brand outlet — bring your questions. Shop-120, Plaza A.R Shopping Mall, Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
Where we fall short
Every company’s website lists its strengths. Here is what we would rather you hear from us than find out afterwards.
Outside the big cities, we are slower.
We provide at-home service in every district of Bangladesh — but not at the same speed everywhere. In and around Dhaka, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar, after-sales visits happen fast. Beyond those areas, a visit can take between 3 to 10 business days. We are steadily adding after-sales base stations and each one moves more districts to fast service.
We are not the cheapest and we are not going to be.
The pricing section above explains where the money goes. If price is your main constraint, we are probably the wrong shop.
We carry fewer models.
Before any lock enters our catalogue it passes our engineers’ quality checks and security vetting — and before we sell a single unit, our technicians train on it and we stock its spare parts for the years ahead. That pipeline takes time and money, so we cannot pick up everything the market offers. If you are looking for the widest possible choice, a marketplace will serve you better. If you want every model in the shop to be one we can install, service and stand behind, this is the trade we made.
A model we pulled: the SmartLife F1 Pro.
We sold the F1 Pro until August 2025. Mid-production, the manufacturer moved to an updated chip — better overall performance, but the face-recognition module began struggling to detect bearded faces and there was no way to revert to the earlier chip. Sixty-seven units were affected. We replaced them under warranty, stopped selling the model and will not carry it again. Units built with the original chip never had the problem and when our stock of replacement parts ran out, we upgraded affected customers to a better model or compensated them.
Installation books out — sometimes suddenly.
Every installation is done by our own employees — a team of 10+ expert technicians, never freelancers. That is a quality choice with a cost: when a large corporate project lands, it can absorb the team overnight and installation slots for particular models may disappear for days. We have no rented hands to throw at the problem and we would not want any. So a practical tip: if you see a slot you like today, book it. A slot that looks open now is not guaranteed to still be there tomorrow.
We damaged a customer’s door.
During one installation, our technician damaged the panel of an expensive door while fitting the lock. It was our fault — the door should have been assessed properly before any tool touched it. We covered the door’s full replacement and redid the installation on the new one. Since then, every installation starts with a door assessment — material, thickness and condition. Door-modification work goes only to our best-rated (★ 5.0) senior technicians and every technician completes mandatory door-safety training before their first solo installation.
We update this section when something changes. If you have experienced something that belongs here, tell us — the hotline reaches a person.
Questions we’ll always answer
Before buying a smart device from anyone — including us — we suggest asking:
Who installs it and who do I call in two years?
Is this the version your engineers verified?
What exactly does the warranty cover — in writing?
Where does service happen for this product?
Can I see it working before I pay?
Our answers are on this page. We are happy to repeat them on the phone.
